SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
A. Purpose
Military (and, as required, civilian agency) storage and
distribution points, depots, and other receiving activities require
advance notice of large shipments enroute from contractors' plants.
Timely receipt of notices by the consignee transportation office
precludes the incurring of demurrage and vehicle detention charges. The
information is used to alert the receiving activity of the arrival of a
large shipment.
B. Annual Reporting Burden
Public reporting burden for this collection of information is
estimated to average 10 minutes per response, including the time for
reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and
maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the
collection of information.
The annual reporting burden is estimated as follows: Respondents,
250; responses per respondent, 4; total annual responses, 1,000;
preparation hours per response, .167; and total response burden hours,
167.
Obtaining Copies of Proposals: Requester may obtain a copy of the
justification from the General Services Administration, FAR Secretariat
(MVRS), Room 4037, 1800 F Street, NW, Washington, DC 20405, telephone
(202) 501-4755. Please cite OMB Control No. 9000-0056, Report of
Shipment, in all correspondence.
Dated: December 3, 1998.

Director, Federal Acquisition Policy Division.
