Recreation and Public Purposes Act Classification, Sierra County,
NM
AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management, Interior.
ACTION: Notice of realty action; Recreation and Public Purposes (R&PP)
Act Classification.

SUMMARY: The following public land in Sierra County, New Mexico has
been examined and found suitable for classification for lease or
conveyance to Sierra County for a rifle range under the provisions of
the R&PP Act, as amended (43 U.S.C. 869 et seq.).

Sec. 29, NMPM W\1/2\SE\1/4\
Containing 80 acres, more or less.
Sierra County proposes to use the subject land for a rifle range.
The proposed project is in conformance with the White Sands Resource
Area Resource Management Plan.
DATES: Comments on the proposed lease/conveyance or classification of
public land must be submitted on or before April 4, 1994.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The lease/patent, when issued, will be
subject to the following terms, conditions, and reservations:
1. All valid existing rights of record.
2. Provisions of the R&PP Act and to all applicable regulations of
the Secretary of the Interior.
3. A right-of-way for ditches and canals constructed by the
authority of the United States.
4. All minerals shall be reserved to the United States, together
with the right to prospect for, mine, and remove the minerals.
Upon publication of this notice in the Federal Register, the lands
will be segregated from all other forms of appropriation under the
public land laws, including the general mining laws, except for lease
or conveyance under the R&PP Act and leasing under the mineral leasing
laws. For a period of 45 days from the date of publication of this
notice, interested persons may submit comments regarding the proposed
lease/conveyance or classification of lands to the Las Cruces District
Manager. Any adverse comments will be reviewed by the State Director.
In the absence of any adverse comments, the classification will become
effective 60 days from the date of publication of this notice.
