National Advisory Committee for Acute Exposure Guideline Levels
for Hazardous Substances; Notice of Public Meeting
AGENCY: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: A meeting of the National Advisory Committee for Acute
Exposure Guideline Levels for Hazardous Substances (NAC/AEGL Committee)
will be held on March 10-12, 1998, in Washington, DC. At this meeting,
the NAC/AEGL Committee will address, as time permits, the various
aspects of the acute toxicity and the development of Acute Exposure
Guideline Levels (AEGLs) for the following chemicals: acrolein,
bromine, chloromethyl methyl ether, epichlorohydrin, methyl
trichlorosilane, nickel carbonyl, nitric oxide, trimethyl chlorosilane,
and literature review on jet fuel (JP-4, 5, 7 and 8).
DATES: A meeting of the NAC/AEGL Committee will be held from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10; from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday,
March 11; and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 1998.

1100 Pennsylvania Ave., NW., Washington, DC (Federal Triangle Metro

II. Meeting Procedures
For further information on the scheduled meeting, the agenda of the
NAC/AEGL Committee, or the submission or presentation of information on
chemicals to be discussed at the meeting, contact the DFO.
The meeting of the NAC/AEGL Committee will be open to the public.
Oral presentations or statements by interested parties will be limited
to 10 minutes. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the DFO to
schedule presentations before the NAC/AEGL Committee. Since seating for
outside observers may be limited, those wishing to attend the meeting
as observers are also encouraged to contact the DFO at the earliest
possible date to ensure adequate seating arrangements. Inquiries
regarding oral presentations or the submission of written statements or
chemical-specific information should be directed to the DFO.
Another meeting of the NAC/AEGL Committee is expected to be held
on June 15, 16, and 17, 1998 [currently planned to be held at Oak Ridge
National Laboratory, 1060 Commerce Park, Oak Ridge, TN]. It is
anticipated that chemicals to be addressed at the Oak Ridge, TN meeting
will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
chloroform, crotonaldehyde (E), HFC-134a, HCFC-141b, methyl isocyanate,
peracetic acid, piperidine, sulfur dioxide, sulfur trioxide, and
sulfuric acid. Inquiries regarding the submission of data, written
statements, or chemical-specific information on these chemicals should
be directed to the DFO at the earliest possible date to

allow for consideration of this information in the preparation of NAC/
AEGL Committee materials.
