Cancellation of the Notice of Intent To Prepare a Draft
Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Dade County Beach Erosion
Control and Hurricane Protection Project, for a Test Beach Fill Using a
Foreign Source of Carbonate Sand
AGENCY: Jacksonville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department
of Defense.
ACTION: Cancellation notice.

SUMMARY: The Jacksonville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hereby
cancels its Notice of Intent to prepare a Draft Environmental Impact
Statement as published in FR, Vol. 63, No. 162, page 44850, August 21,
1998 and Vol. 63, No. 207, page 57282, October 27, 1998.
The Notice is cancelled because Congress, in the Conference Report
for FY 1999 appropriations, stated that none of the funds added by
Congress (in FY 1999) for the Dade County, Beach Erosion Control and
Hurricane Protection Project shall be used for the acquisition of
foreign source materials for the project unless the Secretary of the
Army provides written certification to the committees on Appropriations
that domestic sources of material are not available.
