    Notice of Renewal; Federal Advisory Committee Act; Federal 
    Committee on Apprenticeship
    
        Notice is hereby given that after consultation with the General 
    Services Administration, it has been determined that the Federal 
    Committee on Apprenticeship, whose charter expired December 14, 1995, 
    is hereby renewed for a period of two years. This action is necessary 
    and in the public interest.
        The committee will be an effective instrument for providing 
    assistance, advice, and counsel to the Secretary of Labor and the 
    Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employment and Training 
    Administration in the development and implementation of administration 
    policies on legislation and regulations affecting apprenticeship; 
    determining the proper and most effective role of the apprenticeship 
    concept of training in meeting future skilled worker training needs; 
    carrying out of program responsibilities in the apprenticeship and 
    journeyworker training areas; and providing recommendations on such 
    matters as the need of employers in industries facing skilled worker 
    shortages.
        The Committee will consist of 7 representatives of employers, 7 
    representatives of labor, and 7 representatives of the public, 
    including one or more educators.
        The Committee will function solely as an advisory body and in 
    compliance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act. 
    Its charter is being filed at this time in accordance with approval by 
    the General Services Administration Secretariat pursuant to 41 CFR 101-
    6.1015(a)(2).
