    Notice of Proposals to Engage in Permissible Nonbanking 
    Activities or to Acquire Companies that are Engaged in Permissible 
    Nonbanking Activities; Correction
    
        This notice corrects a notice (FR Doc. 98-1173) published on pages 
    2981 and 2982 of the issue for Tuesday, January 20, 1998.
        Under the Federal Reserve Bank of New York heading, the entry for 
    Greater Community Bancorp, Totowa, New York, is revised to read as 
    follows:
        A. Federal Reserve Bank of New York (Betsy Buttrill White, Senior 
    Vice President) 33 Liberty Street, New York, New York 10045-0001:
        1. Greater Community Bancorp, Totowa, New Jersey; to acquire up to 
    9.9 percent of the outstanding stock of 1st Bergen Bancorp, Wood-Ridge, 
    New Jersey, and thereby indirectly acquire South Bergen Savings Bank, 
    Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, and thereby engage in operating a savings bank, 
    pursuant to Sec.  225.28(b)(4)(ii) of the Board's Regulation Y.
        Comments on this application must be received by February 13, 1998.
