    Request for comments.

    SUMMARY:

    In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Coast Guard intends to seek the approval of OMB for the renewal of one Information Collection Request (ICR). The ICR concerns the Operational Measures to Reduce Oil Spills from Existing Tank Vessels Without Double Hulls. Before submitting the ICR to OMB, the Coast Guard is requesting comments on it.

    Comments must reach the Coast Guard on or before April 9, 2002.

    1. Title: Operational Measures to Reduce Oil Spills from Existing Tank Vessels Without Double Hulls.

    OMB Control Number: 2115-0629.

    Summary: The information is needed to ensure compliance with U.S. regulations regarding operational measures for certain tank vessels while operating in the U.S. waters.

    Need: 46 U.S.C. 3703a authorizes the Coast Guard to establish rules to promote the safety of life and property of facilities and vessels. 33 CFR Subparts G and H prescribe the Coast Guard regulations for operational measures.

    Respondents: Owners and operators of tank vessel.

    Frequency: On occasion.

    Burden: The estimated burden is 18,006 hours a year.
