DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
[TA-W-30,689E]
Baker Hughes INTEQ, A/K/A Baker Hughes Oilfield Equipment
Headquartered in Houston, TX, and Operating at Various Locations in the
State of Louisiana; Amended Certification Regarding Eligibility To
Apply for Worker Adjustment Assistance
In accordance with Section 223 of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 U.S.C.
2273) the Department of Labor issued a Certification of Eligibility to
Apply for Worker Adjustment Assistance on February 16, 1995, applicable
to all workers of Baker Hughes Inteq, headquartered in Houston, Texas
and operating at various locations in the State of Louisiana. The
notice was published in the Federal Register on March 1, 1995 (60 FR
11120).
At the request of the State Agency, the Department reviewed the
certification for workers of the subject firm. Findings show that the
workers are engaged in employment related to the exploration and
drilling of crude oil and natural gas for unaffiliated firms. The
company reports that some workers of Baker Hughes Inteq have had their
wages reported under the tax account of Baker Hughes Oilfield
Operations, Inc. The Department is amending the certification to
properly reflect this matter.
The intent of the Department's certification is to include all
workers of the subject firm who were adversely affected by increased
imports.
The amended notice applicable to TA-W-30,689E is hereby issued as
follows:
``All workers of Baker Hughes Inteq,
a/k/a Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations, headquartered in Houston,
Texas and operating in various locations in the State of Louisiana
who became totally or partially separated from employment on or
after January 9, 1994 are eligible to apply for adjustment
assistance under Section 223 of the Trade Act of 1974.''
Signed at Washington, DC, this 29th day of January 1996.
Russell T. Kile,
Acting Program Manager, Policy and Reemployment Services, Office of
Trade Adjustment Assistance.
