BACKGROUND: The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is
seeking to collect and analyze information related to the Conservation
Assessment Program (CAP), which provides small- to-mid-size museums
with a source for general conservation survey grants. The research
evaluation will help IMLS evaluate the outcomes for museums that
participated in CAP, evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of CAP,
identify potential areas for improvement, determine the level of need/
interest for the program within the key stakeholder groups, and to
assess the overall effectiveness of CAP in meeting its goals. From this
evaluation, IMLS will be able to assess the strengths, weaknesses, and
overall success of the CAP program, and make improvements to the
    program.
