Pacific Fishery Management Council; Public Meeting
AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
ACTION: Notice of public meetings.

SUMMARY: The Pacific Fishery Management Council's (Council) Coastal
Pelagic Species Plan Development Team (CPSPDT) and Coastal Pelagic
Species Advisory Subpanel (CPSAS) will hold public meetings.
DATES: The CPSPDT meeting will be held in La Jolla, CA on Friday, March
27, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. and may go into the evening until business for
the day is completed. The CPSAS meeting will be held in Monterey, CA on
Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. and may go into the evening
until business for the day is completed. Persons wishing to attend
these meetings should check to make sure that the meetings will be held
by calling Dr. Doyle Hanan; telephone: (619) 546-7170 or Dr. Larry
Jacobson; telephone: (619) 546-7117.
ADDRESSES: The meeting in La Jolla will be held at NMFS Southwest
Fisheries Science Center, 8604 La Jolla Shores Drive, Room C-127, La
Jolla, CA. The meeting in Monterey will be held at the California
Department of Fish and Game office, 20 Lower Ragsdale Drive, Suite 100,
Monterey, CA.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The primary purpose of the CPSPDT meeting is
to continue revisions to the draft fishery management plan for coastal
pelagic species for presentation to the Council at its April meeting,
including analysis of options for limited entry, maximum sustainable
yield control rules, essential fish habitat, and other matters related
to the fishery management plan. The primary purpose of the CPSAS
meeting is to review documents developed by the CPSPDT.
Although other issues not contained in this agenda may come before
these groups for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens
Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the
subject of formal action during this meeting. Action will be restricted
to those issues specifically identified in the agenda listed in this
notice.
