Census Advisory Committee of Professional Associations; Notice of
Public Meeting
Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (P.L. 92-463 as
amended by P.L. 94-409), we are giving notice of a meeting of the
Census Advisory Committee of Professional Associations. The meeting
will convene on April 27-28, 1995 at the Bureau of the Census,
Conference Center, Federal Building 3, Suitland, Maryland.
The committee is composed of 36 members appointed by the presidents
of the American Economic Association, the American Statistical
Association, the Population Association of America, and the chairman of
the board of the American Marketing Association. It advises the
Director, Bureau of the Census, on the full range of Census Bureau
programs and activities in relation to the areas of expertise.
The agenda for the meeting on April 27 that will begin at 9 a.m.
and end at 5:15 p.m. is:
Introductory remarks by the Director, Bureau of the
Census.
2000 census update.
Economic and agriculture censuses update.
Census Bureau responses to committee recommendations.
Standard Occupation Classification Revision Policy
Committee.
Bureauwide methodology research.
Strategic planning.
Communicating the benefits and usefulness of economic
data.
Initiatives to reduce reporting burden for businesses.
Measuring output (service industries).
Continuous measurement.
Acquiring data through administrative records.
The agenda for the April 28 meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. and
adjourn at 12:15 p.m. is:
Mid-decade ``clean slate'' review of national accounts.
Marketing at the Census Bureau: What does it mean and how
should we do it?
National Academy of Sciences recommendations to modernize
the U.S. census.
Develop recommendations and special interest activities.
Closing session.
The meeting is open to the public, and a brief period is set aside
on April 28 for public comment and questions. Those persons with
extensive questions or statements must submit them in writing to the
Census Bureau Committee Liaison Officer at least three days before the
meeting.
This meeting is physically accessible to people with disabilities.
Requests for sign language interpretation or other auxiliary aids
should also be directed to the Census Bureau official named below.
