    SUMMARY: The Commission, under 49 U.S.C. 10505, exempts from the prior 
    approval requirements of 49 U.S.C. 10903-10904 the abandonment by 
    Burlington Northern Railroad Company (BN) of a 36.10-mile rail line 
    between milepost 515.23, near Valley Center, and milepost 551.34, near 
    Medora, in Sedgwick, Harvey, and Reno Counties, KS. The line includes 
    the stations of Patterson at milepost 531.8, Burrton at milepost 537.9, 
    and Buhler at milepost 547.2. The Commission issues a notice of interim 
    trail use for the line and also makes the exemption subject to standard 
    labor protective conditions.
    
    DATES: Provided no formal expression of intent to file an offer of 
    financial assistance has been received, this exemption will be 
    effective on April 21, 1994. Formal expressions of intent to file an 
    offer of financial assistance under 49 CFR 1152.27(c)(2)1 must be 
    filed by April 1, 1994, petitions to stay must be filed by April 6, 
    1994, requests for a public use condition conforming to 49 CFR 
    1152.28(a)(2) must be filed by April 11, 1994, and petitions to reopen 
    must be filed by April 18, 1994.
