Notice of Proposed Withdrawal and Opportunity for Public Meeting;
California
AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management, Interior.
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: The Bureau of Land Management proposes to withdraw 5,117 acres
of public land in Imperial County to facilitate the All-American Canal
Lining Project. This notice closes [[Page 15303]] the land for up to 2
years from surface entry and mining. The land will remain open to
mineral leasing and the Materials Act of 1947.
DATES: Comments and requests for a public meeting must be received by
June 21, 1995.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: On March 13, 1995, a petition was approved
allowing the Bureau of Reclamation to file an application to withdraw
the following described public land from settlement, sale, location, or
entry under the general land laws, including the mining laws, subject
to valid existing rights:
San Bernardino Meridian
T. 16 S., R. 20 E.,
Sec. 21, SE\1/4\;
Sec. 22, SW\1/4\;
Sec. 26, NW\1/4\NW\1/4\;
Sec. 27, N\1/2\;
Secs. 28 to 29, inclusive;
Sec. 33;
Secs. 44 to 45, inclusive;
Secs. 49 to 51, inclusive.
The area described contains approximately 5,117 acres in
Imperial County.
The purpose of the proposed withdrawal is to facilitate the All-
American Canal Lining Project.
For a period of 90 days from the date of publication of this
notice, all persons who wish to submit comments, suggestions, or
objections in connection with the proposed withdrawal may present
their views in writing to the California State Director of the
Bureau of Land Management.
Notice is hereby given that an opportunity for a public meeting
is afforded in connection with the proposed withdrawal. All
interested persons who desire a public meeting for the purpose of
being heard on the proposed withdrawal must submit a written request
to the California State Director within 90 days from the date of
publication of this notice. Since the proposed withdrawal involves
more that 5,000 acres in the aggregate, at least one public meeting
will be held as required by 43 CFR 2310.3-1(b)(2)(v). A notice of
the time and place will be published in the Federal Register at
least 30 days before the scheduled date of the meeting.
The application will be processed in accordance with the
regulations set forth in 43 CFR 2300.
For a period of 2 years from the date of publication of this
notice in the Federal Register, the land will be segregated as
specified above unless the application is denied or canceled or the
withdrawal is approved prior to that date. The temporary uses which
may be permitted during this segregative period are those which are
compatible with the use of the land by Bureau of Reclamation.
