    Description: The Bank Merger Act and the OTS merger regulations 
implementing that act require a savings association that proposes to 
combine with either another savings association or insure depository 
institution to obtain written approval from the OTS.
    Respondents: Savings and Loan Associations and Savings Banks.
    Estimated Number of Respondents: 40.
    Estimated Burden Hours Per Respondent: 40 hours.
    Frequency of Response: Once per application.
    Estimated Total Reporting Burden: 1,600 hours.
