EXPORT-IMPORT BANK OF THE UNITED STATES
Notice of Open Special Meeting of the Advisory Committee of the
Export-Import Bank of the United States (Export-Import Bank).
SUMMARY: The Advisory Committee was established by Public Law 98-181,
November 30, 1983, to advise Export-Import Bank on its programs and to
provide comments for inclusion in the reports of the Export-Import Bank
of the United States to Congress.
TIME AND PLACE: Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The
meeting will be held at the Export-Import Bank in room 1143, 811
Vermont Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20571.
AGENDA: The meeting will include a discussion of the following: the
capacity of commercial banks to step up to some risk in the medium term
in order to set the stage for the use of delegated authority; the
availability of information from the exporter community on the net
employment impact of a change in the foreign content policy; the
ability of financial intermediaries in project finance cases to take on
operational and risk-sharing roles that neutralize the administrative
and program budget implications of offering pre-completion
comprehensive cover; and the adequacy of short- and medium-term export
credit availability for small and medium sized exporters and what
additional delivery mechanisms might expand the availability of such
support.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: The meeting will be open to public participation,
and the last 10 minutes will be set aside for oral questions or
comments. Members of the public may also file written statement(s)
before or after the meeting. In order to permit the Export-Import Bank
