    Notice Pursuant to the National Cooperative Research and 
    Production Act of 1993--National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, 
    Inc. (NCMS)
    
        Notice is hereby given that, on February 4, 1997, pursuant to 
    Section 6(a) of the National Cooperative Research and Production Act of 
    1993, 15 U.S.C. 4301 et seq. (``the Act''), the National Center for 
    Manufacturing Sciences, Inc. (``NCMS'') has filed written notifications 
    simultaneously with the Attorney General and the Federal Trade 
    Commission disclosing changes in its membership and providing 
    information on the status of its research projects. The notifications 
    were filed for the purpose of extending the Act's provisions limiting 
    the recovery of antitrust plaintiffs to actual damages under specified 
    circumstances. Specifically, the following companies were accepted as 
    active members of NCMS: Advanced Technology & Research Corporation, 
    Burtonsville, MD; Lockheed Martin Corporation, Idaho Falls, ID; OMNEX 
    Engineering & Management, Inc., Ann Arbor, MI; and Structural Dynamics 
    Research Corporation, Milford, OH. Software Productivity Consortium 
    NFP, Inc., Herndon, VA, was approved for affiliate membership. Cimflex 
    Teknowledge Corporation, Palo Alto, CA, changed its name to Teknowledge 
    Corporation, and ICAD, Inc., Burlington, MA, has changed its name to 
    Concentra Corporation. The McNeal-Schwendler Corporation, Los Angeles, 
    CA, acquired Aries Technology, Inc. and subsequently became a member of 
    NCMS. The following companies have canceled their active membership in 
    NCMS: Andersen Consulting LLP, Detroit, MI; Computer Tool & Die 
    Systems, Inc., Ann Arbor, MI; Knowledge Based Systems, Inc., College 
    Station, TX; Physical Sciences Inc., Andover, MA; C. Thorrez 
    Industries, Inc., Jackson, MI; and Weed Instrument Company, Inc., Simi 
    Valley, CA. The following organizations have resigned from affiliate 
    membership in NCMS: American Supplier Institute, Allen Park, MI; Les 
    Chefs Mailleurs de la Qualite, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
        No other changes have been made in either the membership or planned 
    activity of the group research project. Membership in this group 
    research project remains open, and NCMS intends to file additional 
    written notification disclosing all changes in membership.
        On February 20, 1987, NCMS filed its original notification pursuant 
    to Section 6(a) of the Act. The Department of Justice published a 
    notice in the Federal Register pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Act on 
    March 17, 1987 (52 FR 8375).
        The last notification was filed with the Department on November 24, 
    1996. This notice was published in the Federal Register on December 19, 
    1996 (61 FR 67067).
