AGENCY: Federal Communications Commission.
ACTION: Proposed rule.

SUMMARY: The Commission requests comments on a petition filed by
Chehalis Broadcasting Company proposing the allotment of Channel 267A
at Westport, Washington, as the community's first local aural
transmission service. Channel 267A can be allotted to Westport in
compliance with the Commission's minimum distance separation
requirements at city reference coordinates. The coordinates for Channel
267A at Westport are North Latitude 46-53-24 and West Longitude 124-06-
06. Since Westport is located within 320 kilometers (200 miles) of the
U.S.-Canadian border, concurrence of the Canadian government has been
requested.
DATES: Comments must be filed on or before April 21, 1997, and reply
comments on or before May 6, 1997.

Notice of Proposed Rule Making, MM Docket No. 97-83, adopted February

Provisions of the Regulatory Flexibility Act of 1980 do not apply
to this proceeding.
