Designation of Nicaragua Under Temporary Protected Status; 
Correction

AGENCY: Immigration and Naturalization Service, Justice.

ACTION: Notice of correction.

SUMMARY: On January 5, 1999, the Immigration and Naturalization Service 
(Service) published a notice in the Federal Register at 64 FR 526 which 
designated Nicaragua under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program 
for 18 months. In the supplemental information to the notice of January 
5, 1999, the Service inadvertently misstated that a Nicaraguan who is 
eligible to apply for adjustment under section 202 of the Nicaraguan 
Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) must apply for 
adjustment prior to April 1, 2002. It should have instead stated that a 
Nicaraguan who is eligible to apply for adjustment under section 202 of 
NACARA must apply prior to April 1, 2000. The purpose of this notice is 
to inform potential applicants of the correct date and prevent 
individuals from missing the filing deadline.

DATES: This notice is effective April 1, 1999.
