DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
Employment and Training Administration
[NAFTA-01397 Cartersville, Georgia, and NAFTA-01397A Atlanta, Georgia]
Atlantic Steel Industries, Incorporated; Amended Certification
Regarding Eligibility To Apply for NAFTA Transitional Adjustment
Assistance
In accordance with Section 250(a), Subchapter D, Chapter 2, Title
II, of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended (19 USC 2273), the Department
of Labor issued a Certification of Eligibility to Apply for NAFTA
Transitional Adjustment Assistance on February 11, 1997, applicable to
all workers of Atlantic Steel Industries, Incorporated located in
Cartersville, Georgia. The notice was published in the Federal Register
on March 12, 1997 (62 FR 11473).
At the request of the State agency, the Department reviewed the
certification for workers of the subject firm. New findings show that
worker separations have occurred at the subject firm's Atlanta plant
also in Georgia. The workers are engaged in employment related to the
production of steel billets, bars, rods, and flats.
The intent of the Department's certification is to include all
workers of Atlantic Steel Industries Incorporated who were affected by
increased imports from Mexico or Canada. Accordingly, the Department is
amending the worker certification to include the workers of Atlantic
Steel Industries Incorporated, Atlanta, Georgia.
The amended notice applicable to NAFTA--01397 is hereby issued as
follows:
All workers of Atlantic Steel Industries, Inc., Cartersville,
Georgia (NAFTA--01397) and Atlanta, Georgia (NAFTA--01397A), who
became totally or partially separated from employment on or after
December 13, 1995 are eligible to apply for NAFTA-TAA under Section
250 of the Trade Act of 1974.
Signed at Washington, D.C. this 4th day of April 1997.
Russell T. Kile,
Program Manager, Policy and Reemployment Services, Office of Trade
Adjustment Assistance.
