Notice of Workshop
The National Science Foundation (NSF) will hold a two-day workshop
on the potential for digital libraries to increase both the quality of
undergraduate science, mathematics, engineering, and technology (SMET)
education and access to high quality SMET education. The workshop will
be held from 7:00-9:30 PM, Tuesday, July 21; 8:30 AM-9:00 PM,
Wednesday, July 22; and 8:30 AM-3:30 PM, Thursday, July 23, 1998 at the
National Science Foundation, 4201 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22230.
The purpose of this workshop is to gather input from potential library
users to assist the NSF in determining and articulating the uses of
digital libraries in undergraduate SMET education.
Although the workshop will not operate as an advisory committee,
the public will be invited to attend. Participants will include faculty
and students who are potential users of SMET educational resources;
developers of SMET educational resources including resources exploiting
information technology; and other interested parties. A report of the
workshop will be published for general distribution.
