In accordance with 49 CFR 211.9 and 211.41, notice is hereby given
that the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has received a request
for a waiver of compliance with certain requirements of the Federal

Mid-Continent Railway Historical Society, Inc., Docket Number FRA-
    1999-5106

The Mid-Continent Railway Historical Society, Inc. (MCRY) seeks a
waiver of compliance from 49 CFR 230.116(h)--which requires that oil
burning steam locomotives taking air for combustion through the fire
door opening be equipped with a suitable conduit extending from the
fire door to the outside of the cab which will prevent air being drawn
into the fire box from the interior of the cab. This is required within
the specified territory during the period from November 1 to April 1.
MCRY is asking that the requirement be waived for steam locomotive
number MCRY 2. MCRY indicates that they operate the steam locomotive a
total of six days from November 1 to April 1.
