New England Fishery Management Council; Public Meetings
AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
ACTION: Notice of public meetings.

SUMMARY: The New England Fishery Management Council (Council) is
scheduling a number of public meetings of its oversight committees and
advisory panels in May, 1999 to consider actions affecting New England
fisheries in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Recommendations from
these groups will be brought to the full Council for formal
consideration and action, if appropriate.
DATES: The meetings will be held between May 13 and May 24, 1999. See
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION for specific dates and times.
ADDRESSES: Meetings will be held in Peabody and E. Boston, MA. See
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION for specific locations.

Advisors Committee Meeting

Development of advisory panel recommendations on limited entry,
controlled access, and recommendations on the establishment of a
control date for the Atlantic herring fishery; other business.
Monday, May 24, 1999, 9:30 a.m.--Scallop Committee Meeting.
Location: Holiday Inn Boston Logan Airport, 225 McClellan Highway,

The committee will identify problems and issues to be addressed by
Amendment 10 and evaluate research proposals that would utilize the
scallop TAC set-aside from Closed Area II.
Although other issues not contained in this agenda may come before
these groups for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens
Fishery Conservation and Management Act, these issues may not be the
subject of formal action during this meeting. Action will be restricted
to those issues specifically identified in this notice.
