AGENCY:
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
ACTION:
Notice and request for comment.
SUMMARY:
In accordance with the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 (44 U.S.C. chapter 35), the FDIC may not conduct or sponsor, and the respondent is not required to respond to, an information collection unless it displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget (OMB) control number. As part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, the FDIC invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on renewal of an existing information collection as required by PRA. On February 5, 2014 (79 FR 6902), the FDIC requested comment for 60 days on renewal of its information collection entitled Summary of Deposits, which is currently approved under OMB Control No. 3064-0061. No comments were received on the proposal to renew. The FDIC hereby gives notice of submission to OMB of its request to renew the collection.

Proposal to renew the following currently approved collections of information:
Title: Summary of Deposits.
OMB Number: 3064-0061.
Frequency of Response: Annual.
Affected Public: Insured state nonmember banks and state savings associations.
Estimated Number of Respondents: 5,500.
Estimated Time per Response: 3 hours.
Total Estimated Annual Burden: 16,500 hours.
General Description of Collection: The annual Summary of Deposits (SOD) survey is completed as of June 30 each year by FDIC-insured commercial banks, FDIC-supervised savings banks, and insured branches of foreign banks. The SOD is a report on the amount of deposits for each authorized office of an insured bank with branches; banks without branches do not report. All data collected on the SOD submission are available to the public. The survey data provides a basis for measuring the competitive impact of bank mergers and has additional use in research on banking.
Request for Comment
Comments are invited on: (a) Whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of Start Printed Page 23358the FDIC's functions, including whether the information has practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the estimates of the burden of the information collection, including the validity of the methodology and assumptions used; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and (d) ways to minimize the burden of the information collection on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology. All comments will become a matter of public record.
