    ARMS CONTROL AND DISARMAMENT AGENCY

The Establishment of the Director's Advisory Committee (DirAC)

In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, as amended,
the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (ACDA) announces the
establishment of the Director's Advisory Committee (DirAC). The
Committee will provide the Director of ACDA with a continuing source of
independent insight, advice, and innovation on all aspects of arms
control, disarmament, and nonproliferation. Because the successful
    conduct of arms control

requires a synthesis of physical science, social science, military
technology and strategy, diplomacy, and politics, the committee will be
composed of persons with expertise in one or more of these areas. The
work of this committee will be instrumental in enabling ACDA to
contribute to the reduction or elimination of some significant threats
to American national security. The committee will operate for two years
    unless terminated sooner or renewed.
    John D. Holum,
    Director.
