John E. Fogarty International Center for Advanced Study in the
Health Sciences; Notice of Meeting of the Fogarty International Center
Advisory Board
Pursuant to Public Law 92-463, as amended, notice is hereby given
of the thirty-third meeting of the Fogarty International Center (FIC)
Advisory Board, May 21, 1996, in the Lawton Chiles International House
(Building 16), at the National Institutes of Health.
The meeting will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The agenda will begin with a report by the Director, FIC.
Presentations will include reports on the NIH AIDS research programs
evaluation and the international aspects of the Office of AIDS Research
review. FIC follow-up and plans for the FIC AIDS International Training
Program in response to these reviews also will be presented. An update
on the status of the implementation of the FIC long-range plan will
focus on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, a forthcoming
colloquium on ebola virus research and a workshop on malaria research
in Africa. There also will be a report on global vaccine development.
In accordance with the provisions of sections 552b(c)(4) and
552b(c)(6), Title 5, United States Code and section 10(d) of Public Law
92-463, as amended, the meeting will be closed to the public from 1:30
p.m. to adjournment for the review of applications for awards under the
Senior International Fellowship Program and the International Research
Fellowship Program; and the Fogarty International Research
Collaboration Awards and HIV, AIDS and Related Illnesses Collaboration
Awards.
