    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

Title: 7 CFR part 220, School Breakfast Program.

    OMB Number: 0584-0012.

    Expiration Date: August 31, 2015.

Type of Request: Revision of a currently approved collection.

Abstract: Section 4 of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (CNA) (42 U.S.C. 1773) authorizes the School Breakfast Program (SBP) as a nutrition assistance program and authorizes payments to the States to assist them to initiate, maintain, or expand nonprofit breakfast programs in schools. The provision requires that “Breakfasts served by schools participating in the School Breakfast Program under this section shall consist of a combination of foods and shall meet minimum nutritional requirements prescribed by the Secretary on the basis of tested nutritional research.” This information collection is required to administer and operate this program in accordance with the NSLA (National School Lunch Act). The Program is administered at the State and school food authority (SFA) levels and operations include the submission of applications and agreements, submission and payment of claims, and maintenance of records. The reporting and recordkeeping burden associated with this revision is summarized in the charts below. The difference in burden is mainly due to adjustments, such as the removal of duplicate burden and an increase in schools participating. All of the reporting and recordkeeping requirements associated with the SBP are currently approved by the Office of Management and Budget and are in force. This is a revision of the currently approved information collection.
