Technology (``NIST''), U.S. Department of Commerce, is contemplating
the grant of an exclusive license world-wide to NIST's interest in the
invention embodied in U.S. Patent Application 07/892,037, titled,
``Photovoltaic Solar Water Heating System'', filed June 2, 1992; NIST
Docket No. 91-023US to Four Seasons Solar Products Corporations, having
a place of business at 5005 Veterans Memorial Highway, Holbrook, NY
11741. The grant of the license would be for all fields of use.

as represented by the Secretary of Commerce. The present invention
relates to a system for heating water using solar energy, the system
comprises a photovoltaic array, a water heater comprising a variable
resistive load, and a controller for varying either the load
characteristics of the resistive load or the power generating
characteristics of the photovoltaic array, or both, to ensure maximum
    power transfer efficiency.
