    Hearing on Racial and Ethnic Tensions in American Communities: 
    Poverty, Inequality, and Discrimination--New York City; Postponement
    
        Notice was previously given pursuant to the provisions of the 
    United States Commission on Civil Rights Act of 1983, Public Law 98-
    183, 97 Stat. 1301, as amended, of a public hearing of the U.S. 
    Commission on Civil Rights, to commence on May 16, 1994, beginning at 9 
    a.m. in the Ceremonial Court of the U.S. Court of International Trade, 
    located at One Federal Plaza, New York, New York 10007, in the March 
    21, 1994, issue of the Federal Register at page 13304.
        This is to advise the public that the aforementioned public hearing 
    has been postponed, and will be held at a later date. A future notice 
    will be published in the Federal Register by the U.S. Commission on 
    Civil Rights apprising the public of the new hearing date, time, and 
    location.
        The Commission on Civil Rights is an independent, bipartisan, 
    factfinding agency authorized by Congress to study, collect, and 
    disseminate information, and to appraise the laws and policies of the 
    Federal Government, and to study and collect information concerning 
    legal developments, with respect to discrimination or denials of equal 
    protection of the laws under the Constitution because of race, color, 
    religion, sex, age, handicap, or national origin, or in the 
    administration of justice.
