Proposed Prospective Purchaser Agreement, Pursuant to the
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act
for the Autodeposition Site in Chicago, Illinois
AGENCY: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (``U.S. EPA'').
ACTION: Proposal of prospective purchaser agreement pursuant to the
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act
for the Autodeposition Site in Chicago, Illinois.

SUMMARY: In accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response,
Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, as amended (``CERCLA''), 42
U.S.C. Sec. 9601, et seq., notice is hereby given that a proposed
prospective purchaser agreement for the Autodeposition Site in Chicago,
Illinois has been executed by Greenfield Partners, Ltd.
(``Greenfield''). The agreement has been submitted to the Attorney
General for approval. The proposed prospective purchaser agreement
would resolve certain potential claims of the United States under
Sections 106 and 107 of CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. Secs. 9606 and 9607, and
Section 7003 of the Solid Waste Disposal Act, as amended, 42 U.S.C.
Sec. 6973, against Greenfield. The proposed settlement would require
Greenfield to perform work at the Site valued at approximately
$140,000.
DATES: Comments on the proposed prospective purchaser agreement must be
received by U.S. EPA on or before June 12, 1997. If requested prior to
the expiration of this public comment period, U.S. EPA will provide an
opportunity for a public meeting in the affected area.
