Rivers Electric Company, Inc.; Notice of Availability of Draft 
Environmental Assessment

May 7, 1998.
    An environmental assessment (EA) is available for public review. 
The EA is for an application to amend the license for the Mill Pond 
Hydroelectric Project. The application is to increase the operating 
level of the project impoundment 2 feet that would result in more 
efficient operation of the project. The EA finds that approval of the 
amendment would not constitute a major federal action significantly 
affecting the quality of the human environment. The project is located 
on Catskill Creek, near Leeds, New York.
    Copies of the EA are available for review in the Public Reference 
Branch of the Commission's offices at 888 First Street, N.E., 
Washington, D.C. 20426.
    Comments should be filed within 30 days from the date of this 
notice and should be addressed to David P. Boergers, Acting Secretary, 
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., 
Washington, D.C. 2426. Please affix Project No. 9985-024 to all
