Wilderness Management; Planning Initiation
AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management.
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: The Bureau of Land Management, El Centro Field office, will
conduct public open house meetings May 13, 15, and 19, 1998 to gather
from the public comments and concerns to be addressed in activity level
wilderness management plans. Comments will be solicited primarily for
the 10 wilderness areas managed by the El Centro office, but comments
regarding any of the 67 wilderness areas managed by the California
Desert District will be accepted.
DATES: Open house meetings will be held at the following dates, times,
and locations: May 13, 1998: 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Imperial
Irrigation District Auditorium, 1284 Main Street, El Centro, CA; on May
15, 1998: 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, at the Yuma BLM office, 2555 Gila Ridge
Road, Yuma, AZ, and on May 19, 1998: 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, at the
Comfort Inn, 8000 Parkway Drive, La Mesa, CA. For a period of 45 days
after publication of this notice in the Federal Register, interested
parties may submit comments to the Field Manager, Bureau of Land
Management, El Centro Field Office, 1661 South 4th Street, El Centro,
CA 92243. Objections will be reviewed by the State Director, who may
sustain, vacate, or modify this action. In the absence of any
objections, this action will be the final determination of the
Department of the Interior.
