AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
ACTION: Issuance of modification to permit no. 748 (P77#50).

SUMMARY: Notice is hereby given that on May 3, 1994, Permit No. 748,
issued to the Southwest Fisheries Science Center, NMFS, P.O. Box 271,
La Jolla, CA 92038, was modified.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The subject modification has been issued
under the authority of the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, as
amended (16 U.S.C. 1361 et seq.), the provisions of Secs. 216.33(d) and
(e) of the Regulations Governing the Taking and Importing of Marine
Mammals (50 CFR part 216), the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as
amended (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.), and the provisions of Sec. 222.25 of
the regulations governing the taking, importing, and exporting of
endangered fish and wildlife (50 CFR part 222).
Permit No. 748, which authorizes photo-identification studies and
aerial surveys for a number of cetacean species, was modified to extend
the effective date through July 31, 1996.
