In accordance with Section 223 of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 USC
2273) the Department of Labor issued a Notice of Certification
Regarding Eligibility to Apply for Worker Adjustment Assistance on
October 6, 1994, applicable to all workers of Smith Corona Corporation
engaged in employment related to the production of typewriters and word
processors in Cortland, New York. The notice was published in the
Federal Register on October 21, 1994 (59 FR 53211).
At the request of the company, the Department reviewed the
certification for workers of the subject firm. The findings show that
the support workers (sales, service and administrative) of the subject
firm, located in various States, should have been included. The intent
of the Department's certification is to include all workers of Smith
Corona Corporation who were adversely affected by increased imports.
The amended notice applicable to TA-W-30,205 is hereby issued as
follows:
All workers of Smith Corona Corporation, Cortland, New York, and
at various field offices in California, Connecticut, Florida,
Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New
York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Wisconsin engaged
in employment related to the production of typewriters and word
processors who became totally or partially separated from employment
on or after October 2, 1994 are eligible to apply for adjustment
assistance under Section 223 of the Trade Act of 1974.
