NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION
[Docket No. 50-388]
Pennsylvania Power and Light Company; Withdrawal of Application
for Amendment to Facility Operating License
The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission)
has granted the request of Pennsylvania Power and Light Company (the
licensee) to withdraw its September 14, 1993, application for proposed
amendment to Facility Operating License No. NPF-22 for the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station, Unit 2, located in Luzerne County,
Pennsylvania.
The proposed amendment would have revised the requirements in
sections 3.6.1.8 and 4.6.1.8 of the Technical Specifications to allow
continued operation with an inoperable suppression chamber purge valve.
The Commission has previously issued a Notice of Consideration of
Issuance of Amendment published in the Federal Register on November 10,
1993 (58 FR 59754). However, by letter dated December 22, 1993, the
licensee withdrew the proposed change.
For further details with respect to this action, see the
application for amendment dated September 14, 1993, and the licensee's
letter dated December 22, 1993, which withdrew the application for
license amendment. The above documents are available for public
inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room, 2120 L Street,
NW., Washington, DC, and the Osterhout Free Library, Reference
Department, 71 Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania 18701.
Dated at Rockville, Maryland this 20th day of April 1994.
For the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Jacob I. Zimmerman,
Acting Project Manager, Project Directorate I-2, Division of Reactor
Projects--I/II, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.
