Viking Gas Transmission Company; Notice of Request for Extension 
of Time

May 15, 1998.
    Take notice that on April 30, 1998, Viking Gas Transmission Company 
(Viking) filed for an extension of implementation dates for computer-
related capacity release GISB standards.
    Viking requests the Commission to grant Viking an extension of time 
to June 1, 1999, to implement the computer-related capacity release 
GISB standards. Viking says it needs additional time to test and to 
implement its capacity release computer components. Viking claims its 
ability to test and to implement its capacity release computer 
components has been delayed due to complications that arose in 
conjunction with its conversion to an Internet-based EBB in place of a 
dial-up EBB.
    Any person desiring to protest said filing should file a protest 
with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., 
Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Section 385.211 of the 
Commission's Rules and Regulations. All such protests should be filed 
on or before May 22, 1998. Protests will be considered by the 
Commission in determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will 
not serve to make protestants parties to the proceeding. Any person 
wishing to become a party must file a motion to intervene. Copies of 
this filing are on file with the Commission and are available for 
public inspection in the Public Reference Room.
