    Proposed Closure and Restrictions on Public Land in Imperial 
    County, California
    
    AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management, Interior.
    
    ACTION: Notice of closure to camping and vehicular traffic and 
    designation for day use only of certain public lands in the Tumco 
    Historic Townsite of Imperial County, CA.

    SUMMARY: In accordance with title 43 Code of Federal Regulations, 
    section 8364.1, notice is hereby given that all roads and lands in the 
    below listed area will be closed to camping and vehicular traffic. 
    Additionally, the area will be designated for day use only. The 
    affected area is managed by the El Centro Resource Area of the Bureau 
    of Land Management and is known as the Historic Townsite of Tumco. The 
    closure area includes T. 15 S., R. 20 E., section 1, SW\1/4\; section 
    12, N\1/2\; and those portions of section 2, SE\1/4\, and section 11, 
    NE\1/4\, SBBM, that are east of the designated fence line. The closure 
    is necessary to prevent undue degradation of National Register of 
    Historic Places eligible cultural resources. An official parking area 
    will be established adjacent to the townsite and a self-guided walking 
    tour developed.
        The action does not apply to BLM operation and maintenance 
    vehicles, law enforcement vehicles and other vehicles specifically 
    authorized by the authorized officer of BLM.
    
    DATES: The closure becomes effective June 30, 1995 and remains in 
    effect until revoked by the authorized officer.
