    Notice of Proposed Exchange of Lands in Cochise County, Graham, 
    Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties, AZ

    SUMMARY: Notice is hereby given that the Bureau of Land Management is 
    considering a proposal to exchange land pursuant to Section 206 of the 
    Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (43 U.S.C. 1716), as 
    amended. The exchange has been proposed by the Phelps Dodge Corporation 
    and is referred to as the Safford Exchange Project. The following 
    described public land is being considered for disposal by the United

        Subject to valid existing rights, the public land identified above 
    has been segregated from appropriation under the public land laws, 
    mineral laws, and mineral leasing laws for a period of five years 
    beginning on December 15, 1994. In exchange the United States will 
    acquire the following described land from Phelps Dodge Corporation:

    publication of this notice.
