Notice of Commission Decision To Extend Target Date for Completion of
Investigation
AGENCY: U.S. International Trade Commission.
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: Notice is hereby given that the U.S. International Trade
Commission has determined to extend the target date for completion of
the above-captioned investigation from June 22, 1998 to June 29, 1998,
to accommodate a revised briefing schedule.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: This investigation was instituted on March
18, 1997, based on a complaint filed by Atmel Corporation. 62 FR 13706.
The respondents named in the investigation are Sanyo Electric Co.,
Ltd., Winbond Electronics Corporation and Winbond Electronics North
America Corporation, and Macronix International Co., Ltd.
Silicon Storage Technology, Inc. was permitted to intervene. At
issue are claim 1 of U.S. Letters Patent 4,511,811, claim 1 of U.S.
Letters Patent 4,673,829, and claims 1-9 of U.S. Letters Patent
4,451,903.
On May 6, 1998, the Commission determined to review portions of the
presiding Administrative Law Judge's final initial determination and
requested the parties to brief certain questions to aid the
Commission's review. 63 FR 25867. The Commission directed the parties
to file their main briefs responding to the Commission's notice of
review by May 20, 1998, and their reply briefs by May 28, 1998. On May
18, 1998, a motion of respondent Winbond to extend the filing deadline
for main briefs to May 26, 1998, and the filing deadline for reply
briefs to June 2, 1998, was granted. The extensions apply to all
parties.
This action is taken under the authority of section 337 of the
Tariff Act of 1930 (19 U.S.C. 1337) and section 210.51 of the
Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure (19 CFR 210.51).
Copies of the public version of the Administrative Law Judge's
final initial determination and all other nonconfidential documents
filed in connection with this investigation are or will be available
for inspection during official business hours (8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.)
in the Office of the Secretary, U.S. International Trade Commission,
