Notice of Applications for Certificates of Public Convenience and 
Necessity and Foreign Air Carrier Permits Filed Under Subpart Q During 
the Week Ending May 15, 1998

    The following Applications for Certificates of Public Convenience 
and Necessity and Foreign Air Carrier Permits were filed under Subpart 
Q of the Department of Transportation's Procedural Regulations (See 14 
CFR 302.1701 et. seq.). The due date for Answers, Conforming 
Applications, or Motions to Modify Scope are set forth below for each 
application. Following the Answer period DOT may process the 
application by expedited procedures. Such procedures may consist of the 
adoption of a show-cause order, a tentative order, or in appropriate 
cases a final order without further proceedings.

Scope: June 10, 1998.
    Description: Application of United Air Lines, Inc. pursuant to 49 
U.S.C. Section 41101 and Subpart Q of the Regulations, applies for a 
certificate of public convenience and necessity authorizing it to 
provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and 
mail between any point or points in the United States directly and via 
any intermediate point or points and any point or points in France and 
beyond France to any point or points in third countries.

Scope: June 11, 1998.
    Description: Application of Air Transat A.T., Inc. pursuant to 49 
U.S.C. Section 40109 and Subpart Q of the Regulations, requests to 
amend its foreign air carrier permit to include scheduled air 
transportation of persons, property and mail between a point or points 
in Canada, on the one hand, and a point or points in the United States, 
on the other hand. Air Transat also requests authority to operate fifth 
freedom charter flights from or via a point or points in the United 
States to a point or points in third countries.
