    Notice and request for comments.

    SUMMARY:

    In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, FAA invites public comments about our intention to request the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew an information collection. This collection of information is required of persons who must receive training and testing under 14 CFR 91.161 in order to fly within 50 nautical miles (NM) of the Washington, DC omni-directional range/distance measuring equipment (DCA VOR/DME). For a person to enroll in the FAA's “Washington, DC Area Training Program,” the rule requires persons to electronically furnish their names, residence addresses, and pilot certificate numbers.

    OMB Control Number: 2120-0734.

    Title: Special Awareness Training for the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

    Form Numbers: There are no FAA forms associated with this collection.

    Type of Review: Renewal of an information collection.

    Background: The final rule containing this information collection requirement was published on August 12, 2008 (73 FR 46797). The collection of information is solicited by the FAA in order to maintain a National database registry for those persons who are required to receive training and be tested for flying in the airspace that is within 60 NM of the DCA VOR/DME. This National database registry provides the FAA with information on how many persons and the names of those who have completed this training. This information is needed so that the FAA can answer to the U.S. Congress on the success of this program.

    Respondents: Approximately 366 pilots.

    Frequency: Information is collected on occasion.

    Estimated Average Burden per Response: 1 hour.

    Estimated Total Annual Burden: 122 hours.
