    ACTION: Notice of exemption.

    SUMMARY: The Commission exempts from the prior approval requirements of 
    49 U.S.C. 10903-10904 the abandonment by Southern Pacific 
    Transportation Company of a 46.7-mile line of railroad in Bexar, 
    Karnes, and Wilson Counties, TX, subject to standard labor protective 
    conditions, environmental conditions, and a public use condition.
    
    DATES: Provided no formal expression of intent to file an offer of 
    financial assistance has been received, this exemption will be 
    effective on June 2, 1994. Formal expressions of intent to file an 
    offer of financial assistance under 49 CFR 1152.27(c)(2)1 must be 
    filed by May 13, 1994. Petitions to stay must be filed by May 18, 1994. 
    Petitions to reopen must be filed by May 30, 1994. Requests for a 
    public use condition conforming to 49 CFR 1152.28(A)(2) must be filed 
    by May 23, 1994.
