and Land at Military Installations Designated for Closure: Naval
Undersea Warfare Center Detachment, New London, CT
SUMMARY: This Notice provides information regarding the redevelopment
authority that has been established to plan the reuse of the Naval
Undersea Warfare Center Detachment, New London, Connecticut, and the
surplus property that is located at that base closure site.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In 1995, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center
Detachment, New London, Connecticut, was designated for closure
pursuant to the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990,
Public Law 101-510, as amended. Pursuant to this designation, on 28
September 1995, the land and facilities at this installation (except
for those directed by the Commission to be retained by the Coast Guard)
were declared excess to the Department of the Navy and available for
use by other federal agencies. No interest has been expressed.
Notice of Surplus Property: Pursuant to paragraph (7)(B) of Section
2905(b) of the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990, as
amended by the Base Closure Community Redevelopment and Homeless
Assistance Act of 1994, the following information regarding the
redevelopment authority for and the surplus property at the Naval
Undersea Warfare Center Detachment, New London, Connecticut, is
published in the Federal Register.
Redevelopment Authority: The redevelopment authority for the Naval
Undersea Warfare Center Detachment, New London, Connecticut for
purposes of implementing the provisions of the Defense Base Closure and
Realignment Act of 1990, as amended, is the Naval Undersea Warfare
Center Redevelopment Authority (NUWC RDA), chaired by Mr. Anthony R.
Basilica. A cross section of community interests is represented on the
Redevelopment Authority. For further information contact Mr. Richard M.

Surplus Property Descriptions: The following is a listing of the
land and facilities at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Detachment,
New London, Connecticut that are surplus to the federal government.
Land: Approximately 25 acres of improved and unimproved fee simple
land at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Detachment, New London,
Connecticut. In general, all areas will be available upon the closure
of the Undersea Warfare Center, anticipated for March 1997.
Buildings: The following is a summary of the facilities located on
the above described land which will be available when the Air Warfare
Center closes in March 1997, unless otherwise indicated. Property

Expressions of Interest: Pursuant to paragraph 7(C) of Section
2905(b) of the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990, as
amended by the Base Closure Community Redevelopment and Homeless
Assistance Act of 1994, State and local governments, representatives of
the homeless, and other interested parties located in the vicinity of
the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Detachment, New London, Connecticut,
shall submit to said redevelopment authority Naval Undersea Warfare
Center Redevelopment Authority (NUWC RDA) a notice of interest, of such
governments, representatives and parties in the above described surplus
property, or any portion thereof. A notice of interest shall describe
the need of the government, representative, or party concerned for the
desired surplus property. Pursuant to paragraph 7(C) of said Section
2905(b), the redevelopment authority shall assist interested parties in
evaluating the surplus property for the intended use and publish in a
newspaper of general circulation in the New London, Connecticut area
the date by which expressions of interest must be submitted.
