    Southern Natural Gas Co.; Proposed Changes in FERC Gas Tariff
    
    May 3, 1994.
        Take notice that on April 29, 1994, Southern Natural Gas Company 
    (Southern) tendered for filing as part of its FERC Gas Tariff, Seventh 
    Revised Volume No. 1, the following tariff sheets, with an effective 
    date of May 1, 1994:

    Sixth Revised Sheet No. 15
    Fourth Revised Sheet No. 16
    Sixth Revised Sheet No. 17
    Sixth Revised Sheet No. 18
    Fourth Revised Sheet No. 22
    Second Revised Sheet No. 41
    First Revised Sheet No. 42
    Second Revised Sheet No. 53
    First Revised Sheet No. 61
    First Revised Sheet No. 62
    First Revised Sheet No. 206
    Second Revised Sheet No. 207
    First Revised Sheet No. 208
    
        Southern states that the above-referenced tariff sheets are being 
    filed with a proposed effective date of May 1, 1994, in compliance with 
    the requirements of the Stipulation and Agreement approved by the 
    Commission order of March 23, 1989 in Docket Nos. RP83-58-000, et al.
        Southern states that the proposed tariff sheets eliminate all 
    references to the expiring fixed take-or-pay charge related to 
    Southern's buy-out and buy-down costs and volumetric surcharge 
    mechanisms related to settlement payments made directly by Southern.
        Southern states that copies of Southern's filing were served upon 
    all of Southern's jurisdictional purchasers, shippers, and interested 
    state commissions.
        Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
    file a petition to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy 
    Regulatory Commission, 825 North Capitol Street, NE., Washington, DC 
    20426, in accordance with Rules 214 and 211 of the Commission's Rules 
    of Practice and Procedure (Secs. 385.214, 385.211). All such petitions 
    or protests should be filed on or before May 10, 1994. Protests will be 
    considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate action to 
    be taken but will not serve to make protestants parties to the 
    proceeding. Any person wishing to become a party must file a petition 
    to intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the Commission and 
    are available for public inspection.
