Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company; Notice of Filing

May 5, 1997.
    Take notice that on April 14, 1997, The Cleveland Electric 
Illuminating Company filed pursuant to Section 205 of the Federal Power 
Act and the Commission's regulations thereunder an original and six 
copies of an amendment to the interconnection agreement (Agreement) 
between CEI and the City of Cleveland (City). This filing is being made 
for the purpose of complying with the Commission's unbundling 
requirements without raising rates or charges to the City. CEI states 
that it has mailed a copy of its filing upon the City. The proposed 
effective date under the Service Agreements is January 1, 1997.
    Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
file a motion to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy 
Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE., Washington, DC 20426, in 
accordance with Rules 211 and 214 of the Commission's Rules of Practice 
and Procedure (18 CFR 385.211 and 18 CFR 385.214). All such motions or 
protests should be filed on or before May 13, 1997. Protests will be 
considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate action to 
be taken, but will not serve to make protestants parties to the 
proceeding. Any person wishing to become a party must file a motion to 
intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the Commission and 
are available for public inspection.
