Endangered Species; Permits
AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
ACTION: Issuance of an Enhancement Permit (P504D), and a Scientific
Research Permit (P503M).

On December 16, 1993, notice was published that an application had
been filed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (P504D), to collect and
transport juvenile Snake River sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) and
juvenile Snake River spring/summer and fall chinook salmon (O.
tshawytscha) for the purpose of increasing their chances of survival,
as authorized by the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA) (16 U.S.C.
1531-1543) and the NMFS regulations governing listed fish and wildlife
permits (50 CFR parts 217-222).
Notice is hereby given that on April 1, 1994, as authorized by the
provisions of the ESA, NMFS issued Permit Number 895 for the above
taking, subject to certain conditions set forth therein.
On January 26, 1994, notice was published (59 FR 3667) that an
application had been filed by Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG)
to enumerate and collect length information on adult and juvenile
chinook salmon in Chamberlain Creek and West Fork Chamberlain Creek as
authorized by the ESA.
Notice is hereby given that on June 2, 1994, as authorized by the
provisions of the ESA, NMFS issued Permit Number 909 for the above
taking, subject to certain conditions set forth therein.
Issuance of these permits, as required by the ESA, were based on a
findings that such permits: (1) Were applied for in good faith; (2)
will not operate to the disadvantage of the listed species which are
the subject of these permits; (3) are consistent with the purposes and
policies set forth in section 2 of the ESA. These permits were also
issued in accordance with and are subject to parts 217-222 of Title 50
CFR, the NMFS regulations governing listed species permits.
The applications, permits, and supporting documentation are
available for review by interested persons in the following offices by
appointment:
