SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The FMP currently contains a fishing
mortality rate reduction strategy that requires a reduction to a
fishing mortality rate of 0.23 beginning in 1996. The purpose of
Amendment 7 is to revise that schedule to require a fishing mortality
rate of 0.41 in 1996, 0.30 in 1997, and 0.23 in 1998 and thereafter. In
addition, the total coastwide quota (commercial and recreational) in
1996 and 1997 may not exceed 18.51 million pounds (8.40 m. kg) unless
such a higher quota would result in a fishing mortality rate of 0.23 or
    less.
All hearings will be tape recorded and the tapes will be filed as
the official transcript of the hearings.
This meeting is physically accessible to people with disabilities.
