    Employment and Training Administration

Native American Employment and Training Council; Renewal

In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee
Act, the Secretary of Labor has determined that the renewal of the
Native American Employment and Training Council is in the public
interest consistent with the requirements of title IV, Section
410(k)(1) of the Job Training Partnership Act.
The Council will provide advice to the Assistant Secretary for
Employment and Training regarding the overall operation and
administration of native American programs authorized under Title IV,
Section 401, as amended, as well as the implementation of other
programs providing services to Native American youth and adults under
this Act. The Assistant Secretary views the Council as the primary
vehicle to accomplish the Department's commitment to work in
partnership with the Indian and Native American community on employment
    and training concerns.
The Council shall consist of no less than 17 Indians, Alaskan
Natives and Hawaiian Natives appointed by the Secretary from among
individuals nominated by Indian tribes or Indian, Alaskan Native or
Hawaiian Native organizations. An equitable geographic distribution
will be sought in addition to appropriate representation of both tribes
and non-tribal organizations. The members shall not be compensated and
shall not be deemed to be employees of the United States.
The Council will function solely as an advisory body, and in
compliance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
Its charter will be filed under the Act 15 days from this publication.

renewal of the Native American Employment and Training Council.
