Extension of Comment Period for Control of Diesel Fuel Quality
Advance Notice
AGENCY: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
ACTION: Advance notice of proposed rulemaking; notice of extension of
comment period.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY: EPA is extending the comment period for the Advance Notice of
Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) for the control of diesel fuel quality. The
ANPRM was published in the Federal Register on May 13, 1999 (64 FR
26142). The close of the comment period for the proposed rule was
originally June 28, 1999. EPA is extending the closure of the comment
period to July 13, 1999.
DATES: Comments will be accepted until July 13, 1999.
ADDRESSES: Comments on this ANPRM should be sent to Public Docket A-99-
06 at the US Environmental Protection Agency, 401 M Street, SW, Room M-
1500, Washington, DC 20460. EPA requests that a copy of comments also
be sent to Margaret Borushko, U.S. EPA, Engine Programs and Compliance
Division, 2000 Traverwood Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Margaret Borushko, US EPA, Engine
Programs and Compliance Division, (734) 214-4334;
Borushko.Margaret@epa.gov.
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: On May 13, 1999 EPA published an ANPRM
regarding control of diesel fuel quality (64 FR 26142). The comment
period was scheduled to end June 28, 1999.
[[Page 32210]]
EPA received written requests to extend the comment period to give
affected parties more time to address the issues raised in the ANPRM.
One of the requests was for an extension to July 28, 1999; the other
asked for the comment period to be extended to September 2, 1999.
Although we agree that additional time for the submittal of
comments would be beneficial, we have a desire to make decisions
regarding a proposal as soon as possible. Furthermore, the affected
parties will have additional opportunities to comment during the
rulemaking process. Therefore, EPA is extending the comment period 15
days to July 13, 1999.
Dated: June 9, 1999.
Robert Brenner,
Acting Assistant Administrator for OAR.
