Affirmative Corrective Actions
AGENCY: Federal Trade Commission.
ACTION: Final order.

SUMMARY: This final order prohibits the respondents from making
misrepresentations about any material terms or conditions of any
automobile service contract, from cancelling service contracts when
they have not disclosed that they have a right to do so before selling
the contract, from substantially hindering customers from performing a
condition on obtaining a benefit, from denying valid claims, and from
refusing to comply promptly with any term or condition of any service
contract they sell. In addition, the order requires the respondents to
disclose to potential buyers whether the contracts cover the full cost
of repairs, whether they include a rental car allowance, and the number
and total dollar value of claims that may be submitted.
DATES: Complaint issued October 8, 1991. Final order issued April 29,
