Notice of Lodging of Consent Decree Pursuant to the Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act
In accordance with Departmental policy, 28 CFR 50.7 notice is
hereby given that a proposed consent decree in United States v.
Silvertone Plating Company, Inc., Civil Action No. 92-CV-76076 (E.D.
Mich.), was lodged on May 13, 1994 with the United States District
Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
The Consent Decree resolves certain claims for civil penalties in
connection with violations of a Consent Agreement and Final Order
(``CAFO'') under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act 42 U.S.C.
6901 et seq. (``RCRA''), at a facility located at 7 South Emerick
Street, Ypsilanti, Michigan. The Consent Decree requires Silvertone to
pay the United States $1,000, but reserves the United States' rights
with respect to injunctive relief and other claims. In the Decree,
Sivlertone certified that it is no longer conducting business at the
facility.
The Department of Justice will receive, for a period of thirty (30)
days from the date of this publication, comments relating to the
proposed consent decree. Comments should be addressed to the Assistant
Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division,
Department of Justice, Washington, DC 20530, and should refer to United
States v. Silvertone Plating, Company, Inc., DOJ Ref. #90-7-1-636.
The proposed consent decree may be examined at the Office of the
United States Attorney, 231 West LaFayette Street, Detroit, Michigan
48226; the United States Environmental Protection Agency, 77 West
Jackson Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60604; and at the Consent Decree

624-0892. A copy of the proposed consent decree may be obtained in
person or by mail from the Consent Decree Library, 1120 G Street, NW.,
4th floor, Washington, DC 20005. In requesting a copy please refer to
the referenced case and enclose a check in the amount of $3.00 (25
cents per page reproduction costs), payable to the Consent Decree
Library.
